Each year, I choose a theme for our main Christmas tree. You can view last year’s tree here. Usually, it is based on one or more pieces, and it just sparks decor inspiration for me. Sometimes it is not even holiday-related. I will just see color and/or texture and need to recreate it.
This year, I was really trying to think of what I wanted my decor to be like and did not have any ideas ready. That is completely unlike me. I will usually have the idea way in advance of pulling out Christmas decor. And then, all of a sudden it clicked. Jacome Home posted a cement house from Hobby Lobby that she planned on painting to match her decor and I knew I needed to have it. The texture of this house! It definitely made my imagination run wild. I am always obsessed with her eye for decor and how she finds staple pieces in her home. But now, the mood board to the Christmas tree of my dreams this holiday season. Most of these decor items are really affordable. However, there are two ornament sets from Anthropologie that I consider a splurge, especially since I change my decor each year. However, these pieces are timeless, definitely reusable, and I don’t see them going out of style.

Usually, I go for a light, girly and whimsical tree. However this year, I am feeling the moody vibes. The concrete texture with the deep green is such a vibe to me. The ribbon that I will have within the tree is such a soft material that I think it will balance the concrete texture well. Another thing that I never do, is combine silver and gold within decor. I will be breaking that rule this year because I love how it looks within this color palette.
Last minute I decided to use large wooden snowflakes to create some dimension. Most of the ornament balls I chose are the same size so I wanted there to be a contrast.
I also did a small DIY on some old plastic ornament balls to create a faux concrete feature on the tree. Check out my reel for the step by step instructions and products used!
